Technically, You Started It by Lana Wood Johnson Review

Title: Technically, You Started It
Author: Lana Wood Johnson
Format: Audiobook
When a guy named Martin Nathaniel Munroe II texts you, it should be obvious who you're talking to. Except there's two of them (it's a long story), and Haley thinks she's talking to the one she doesn't hate.

A question about a class project rapidly evolves into an all-consuming conversation. Haley finds that Martin is actually willing to listen to her weird facts and unusual obsessions, and Martin feels like Haley is the first person to really see who he is. Haley and Martin might be too awkward to hang out in real life, but over text, they're becoming addicted to each other.

There's just one problem: Haley doesn't know who Martin is. And Martin doesn't know that Haley doesn't know. But they better figure it out fast before their meet-cute becomes an epic meet-disaster . . .

When someone flat out tells you who they are over text, you think you would know the person, right? Not the case when Haley gets a text from Martin, who claims to be "the good one", because there are two Martin Munroes in her class. It becomes apparent to Martin fairly early on that Haley thinks she is the other one. And it because even more apparent that she doesn't think very highly of the one he actually is. So to keep his texting buddy he must lie about who he is. Nothing could possibly go wrong with that plan, right?

This book was fantastic! I was worried going into this that it might be a bit young for me. But I was very surprised. The characters were great, despite everything being over text. The characters were actually well rounded. The story moved quickly and I couldn't stop listening. I stayed up all night to finish it, because I was that addicted to it. It reminded me of that feeling of being a teenager.

The only negative thing I have to say about the book is that I wish it wasn't all in text messages. I would have liked to see both of them apart from texts.

I gave this book 4/5 stars. It was entertaining and overall a great read.
