Homecoming Review

Avalon High seems like a typical high school, attended by typical students: There's Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy. But not everybody at Avalon High is who they appear to be ... not even, as new student Ellie is about to discover, herself. What part does she play in the drama that is unfolding? What if the bizarre chain of events and coincidences she has pieced together means -- as with the court of King Arthur -- tragedy is fast approaching Avalon High? Worst of all, what if there's nothing she can do about it?

 

I read the first book in this series back when it first came out and I LOVED it. I was seventeen and it was like the best book ever. So when I saw it was a graphic novel and like two dollars on book outlet, I had to have it. I went in with high expectations and was let down a bit, even though I hated the movie make of it, I thought a graphic novel would be better.

What I Liked:

• The story. That is what brought me into the series. I love King Arthur. The story keeps you reading on and wanting to know move.

• The Author. I love Meg Cabot. Meg Cabot made up my teenage reading. I didn't read her princess series, but I think I read everything else she had out at the time.

What I Didn't Like:

• The graphics. I hate to say this, but I really didn't like the graphics. Most of the time the people on the page weren't showing the emotion of the words. 

• Flow. I hate putting this as a dislike for a Meg Cabot book, but it was so jumpy. That happens a lot in graphic novels with me. 

• Elle. I remember loving her in the first series. In this one, I found her character very annoying. 

• Short. I feel like nothing really happened in this book. Nothing got accomplished and there wasn't any big conflict. 

• The Cover. I really don't like this cover. Nothing really to say here, but I don't like it.

Will I Continue With Series:

Yes. I want to know what happens.

I really wish the rest of the series was in novel form. I really didn't like the graphic part of these. I want to read more of the thoughts. I do think I would have liked this book better if it had been in novel form. It truly does break my heart to give a Meg Cabot book this kind of review.
